Oh sigh! I love all of these photos, Alison. It's actually a dream vacation! A few questions: where is that pool, where is that trail run, and did you guys take your own bikes or rent there? (We rented mountain bikes last time we were there but didn't know if road bikes would be quality?)
Abby, that pool is in Kihei, and there is also a really nice one in Lahaina. All the Maui County pools are free! I soooo love swimming outdoors - and of course ocean swimming as well. The trail run pictured was the Kapalua Coastal Trail, which starts in Napili Bay (our FAVOURITE spot in all of Hawaii! - stay nowhere else as Napili is fab, especially the Napili Shores resort, a gem of "old" Hawaii and not the high-rise resorts of the nearby areas) and ends in Kapalua. You can hook up with the Mahana Ridge trail if you want a challenge.
We rented bikes as we only planned to ride a couple of times. There are high-end road bikes for rent everywhere; Jason got a top-shelf rental and I'd say mine was mid-range. Fine for the couple of rides we did, although we made some adjustments to the way they were set up (hope they didn't mind:)). Had we planned to ride more, we would have brought our own bikes for sure, but wanted a trip without the hassle of traveling with bike boxes. If you want a really good road bike, it's probably best to reserve in advance.
The difference between Napili Bay and Kaanapali - Napili has a building covenant where no building can be higher than the palm trees. So you don't get high rises like the huge Kaanapali hotels. It's low-key and peaceful!
No explanation required. Looks like heaven to me.

Thanks for the info! We usually stay in Kaanapali, but I'd definitely check our Napili Shores!
DeleteAnd good to know about the bikes, too.
